Founded in 1982 by John Ridgard as Derby Racing Services, the company began by manufacturing custom chassis for racing motorcycles. Production continued into the 1990s, with chassis supplied to customers worldwide. Examples can still be found competing in classic motorcycle racing today.
As production motorcycles became more refined, demand for custom chassis gradually declined. During the early 2000s, the business evolved into a custom machine and fabrication shop, supporting the food industry with machinery maintenance and machining work to keep production lines running.
More recently, our work has developed into manufacturing inspection equipment for the water and rail industries, working alongside leading UK companies in these fields.
Today, DRS Precision Ltd combines that practical engineering experience with precision machining, CAD/CAM, design, welding and light fabrication. Based in Derby, we support one-off components, prototypes and repeat production batches.

Precision machining
CNC milling and turning: two VMCs, a CNC bedmill and two CNC lathes. Manual turning, milling, drilling, line boring and grinding. One-off parts, prototypes and repeat batches.
CAD/CAM and 3D design
CAD/CAM, CAD work and 3D design from initial concept to manufacture and finished product.
Welding and light fabrication
TIG welding of aluminium, steel and stainless steel; MIG welding of steel; brazing and silver soldering. Light fabrication for smaller assemblies and projects.
